The two most important things to consider are, price and security.
For most countries there are a number of price comparison engines,
they compare prices on a wide range of products. They tend to be
more successful for books, dvds and electrical products. Mostly
because those products have a standardised product and model name/number.
Cashback sites can offer a refund of 5% from selected retailers.
But as the cashback price is factored in the product price, the
retailers who do not enter into these schemes may provide a lower
initial price.
Security is paramount. You will need to double check the URL to
make sure it's not a phishing site. When it comes to banking, many
scam sites have replicated the entire site so that you will enter
your login details, which they will steal. Few if any well known
retailers will trade on an insecure website. Their payment system
will operate on a https address. Which is a HTTP Secure address,
with a SSL/TLS protocol to provide encryption.
While many smaller retailers may offer lower prices and secure
transactions they may not be reliable. They could accept payment
and then go into liquidation. If you are a worrier, it's advisable
to stick with chain stores you have faith in.
